Dear Mother and Dad -

Both Art and I are well and getting the most out of the service. We see many very interesting sights, for instance Pembroke castle which is now nothing but ruins. This and many more items of [interest] of which I'll not go into detail.

The last we heard from you was dated Sept 26th. Always glad to get a line from home. Give us the routine of the place and all the things you think would [interest] us.

Now about finances - Our pay is nearly 2 months overdue so you'll have to get along somehow. I do not like to trust a registered letter with any good sum if we should happen to see a pay day before getting back to the States.

As usual we know nothing regarding our movements and as all information of them is restricted I'll not give you my [opinion].

Do not feel worried about us nor is it wise to believe any reports [concerning] our whereabouts or mis-

fortunes. The little boat is still afloat and O.K. We'll sure be back. Keep us well informed and plod along. We think of you often even tho[sic] we don't write. Remember we are proud to be in the service. You will be [interested] to know that I have (slipped) up one round of the ladder. Am a petty officer now.

Pa got the [phone] through to the man at [?] & he has to be on the ground to work the 24 so I suppose I will be [alone] for [Xmas]. [Don't] it [seem] [queer]. [A]ll all alone for all of us. I think I will get Sally Adar to stay with me[.] I have to get [things] [ready] for him but just to think all of us so far from [each] other. [G]oodnight I must go to bed for it is 10 oclock now[.]
