Mr. Christiansen: The newspapers say that you and this fellow Adams are proposing a deal with the striking teachers. You are to try to get the counties to recognize the FEA as sole bargaining agent for all teachers everywhere in the state. Then the FEA goes back to work. I hope very much the papers are wrong. You would be doing the State of Florida a lasting wrong if you accept the FEA as bargaining agent. The FEA has no principles as is shown by the fact they urged teachers to forget their signed contracts and to stop work. Further they do not represent a majority of all teachers in the state. Why should this FEA be forced down the throats of the taxpayers when they stand only for only less than half the teachers? If teachers can get away with unionization, then what about all other city employees? what about unions for firemen, policemen and all others Each year they "want more" and if their unions do not get more they strike. It would be one hell of a life for retired folks, taxes going up each year to support these greedy ones. This is why I say that you should never forget that the taxpayers pay your salary.
