It is a common topic of conversation. People in a position to know say conditions were never worse. Judge Ackerman told the law enforcement officers at a dinner he gave, that if the county and city officers would cooperate they could close up these gambling joints and speakeasies in 24 hours. A few days ago a list of 49 gambling places was shown the Ministers' Association and a speech made by this candidate for sheriff on conditions here. Can you not use your authority to improve conditions in the city we all love so much? Our 500 members feel so helpless and we are sincere in a desire for a better condition.
