Accompanying note: "WALLS OF ST. JOHNS LOCK STARTED Workmen are shown constructing the heavy trapezoid-shaped walls of the St. Johns Lock, a $5.6 million barge canal construction job which is about 25 per cent completed. Steel reinforcing rods in foreground make the massive concrete structure more durable. Walls of the lock chamber will be 28-feet wide at the base. Water depth in the lock, when completed, will be 38 feet and the lock will hold 15-1/4 million gallons of water."
