Hip hop music originated in the Bronx, New York, in the early 1970s. It is characterized by its rhythmic vocals (rapping) and beat, often provided by turntables, beat machines and beatboxing. The group Kan-Dee-Krew represents the hip-hop genre in our collection, although Florida is home to a number of popular performers from the genre, including T-Pain, Flo Rida, and Rick Ross.
