Jazz defies easy definition; it is as much about the performance and the performers as it is the music itself. Syncopation, swing rhythms, and improvisation are hallmarks of the genre. Florida has been home to some remarkable jazz performers, including Ida Goodson, the Miami Latin Jazz Ensemble, and the Billy Rolle Jazz Band.
