It gives me great pleasure to forward to you the enclosed Resolution of appreciation, adopted by our Board at its meeting on February 18, 1962. May I also extend to you and the other members of the Koreshan Unity the sincere gratitude of the Florida Park Service for your most generous and public spirited gift.

RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, the Koreshan State Park is a new addition to Florida’s State Park and Historic Memorials system, and
WHEREAS, this State Park will enable visitors to appreciate the pioneering efforts in Florida of the Koreshan Unity, and
WHEREAS, this State Park will preserve certain archaeological assets, as developed by the Indians of Florida, and
WHEREAS, this State Park will afford the visitors an appreciation of Florida’s natural beauty and recreation, and
WHEREAS, public money with which to purchase this State Park was not available, and
WHEREAS, the Koreshan Unity, Inc., through its members, generously donated to the State of Florida certain tracts of land in Lee County to become a nucleus of Koreshan State Park.

BE IT, THEREFORE, RESOLVED that the Florida Board of Parks and Historic Memorials hereby expresses its appreciation of this public spirit, and extends to Miss Hedwig Michel, President, and to Miss Vesta Newcomb, Mr. Conrad Schlender, and Mr. Alfred Christiansen [sic], other members of the Koreshan Unity, Inc., the sincere gratitude of not only this Board and the State of Florida, but also all those persons who will use this State Park in years to come.
