Following Election Day 2000, students at J. Luz Sáenz Elementary School in Alice, Texas, wrote letters to the citizens of Florida to express their opinions on the status of the election.

Dear, citizens of Florida,
I’m Hope Ellen Juarez here at Saenz School.
Florida don’t you [k]now how to vote. Now we have to wait for you. Now we are all made at Florida. don't you feel ashanmed [sic] next time you vote read the direcions [sic]. I'm only ten years old and I k[n]ow how to vote but I can not vote. I hope you pick a good president because we need a honest, fair, and helpful because that’s a good president. So next time read and maybe next time we will see are president in the news earlyer [sic]. So don't make us mad next time. don't make us wait next time.
