Conant, Lake County, Florida, September 19, 1887 At a meeting of the citizens of the Town of Conant, it was thought that the time had arrived when some combined action should be taken for the permanent improvement of the leading thoroughfares of the town, and a committee was appointed to organize and carry out the work. In order to do this, it is necessary to appeal to all owners of property for a subscription in proportion to the amount of land held by them. As every individual piece of property will be increased in value by the improvements, to an extent far beyond the amount of the contribution asked, it is hoped that this appeal will be cheerfully responded to. Thus far the committee has received the warmest encouragement, several of the residents having contributed more than treble the amount of their assessment. Dr. James, Treasurer Walter C.
