When you look so bad that people think-just by looking at you-that you have consumption, advanced tuberculosis, then you are in bad shape.
ADVANCED tuberculosis is hard to get rid of. EARLY tuberculosis can usually be cured quickly.
If you have lived with a person who was sick with tuberculosis, you may have already caught it. The stuff that a consumptive coughs up is full of germs that spread the disease to others.
How can you find out before you get sick too? Go to a good doctor. Tell him that you have lived with someone who had tuberculosis. He will take an X-ray picture of your chest. If the X-ray picture shows that you are sick, don't worry your head off.
If you can't afford to go to a doctor, ask the County Health Department, County Tuberculosis and Health Association, welfare worker, nurse or some other county worker where you can get an X-ray.
Tuberculosis can be cured when it is found EARLY.
The X-Ray will show it before YOU know it.
