THIRTY miles south of Jacksonville, upon the right bank of the charming and pictureseque St. John's River, at a point where it is over five miles from short to shore, is situated GREEN COVE SPRINGS, so named from the wonderful and celebrated Warm Sulphur Springs, which are visited yearly by thousands of tourists, invalids and lovers of Nature, who avail themselves of the baths and receive much benefit from their use. This is especailly the case with those who are suffering from Neuralgia, Nervous Prostration, Rheumatism, Liver and Kidney Complaints. For bathing, this water is not excelled in its cleansing power, and it leaves
2 GREEN COVE SPRINGS. the skin in its softest and best condition, and physicians regularly prescribe the drinking of this water for the various chronic affections of the Liver and Kidneys, and is especially valuable in the early stages of Bright's Disease of the Kidneys. Left standing for some hours in a clean vessel, it becomes tasteless and as clear as distilled water, so that in the hotels and private residences it is iced and used upon the dining-table. The value of such a spring is hardly to be estimated. In the one case, drink it from the boil of the spring, and you have its medical effects; in the other case, let it stand until the gases escape, and you have a crystal drinking water. The tourist will find nothing in Florida more delightful than a bath in this water, the natural temperature of which is about 78 degrees. GREEN COVE SPRINGS is situated upon high ground, and from the veranda of the ST. CLAIR HOTEL a magnificent view of the surrounding country and of the river can be obtained, as the hotel is very pleasantly situated, within a hundred feet of water, and is surrounded by charm GREEN COVE SPRINGS 3 ing grounds filled with Orange and other tropical trees and plants. The house has light and comfortable rooms and parlors, front verandas, electric bells, and other conveniences, together with a culinary department which cannot be excelled by any hotel in the South. St. David's Walk, a most magnificent walk through the woodlands and along the banks of the St. John's, commences in front of this hotel and runs to Governor's Creek, about one-and-a-half miles. This walk is well worth a visit. The opportunities for boating, fishing, gunning, and riding are unsurpassed. Green Cove is admirable located as an objective point for tourists, there are so many pleasant jaunts to be enjoyed therefrom.

EXCURSIONS
A TRIP TO ST. AUGUSTINE: Start off abotu 11 o'clock A.M.; arrive at St. Augustine in a few hours; stay all night, and return next day.
UPPER ST. JOHN'S TRIP: If desired, the steamer can be taken at Green Cove, and the excursionist may go to Enterprise, on Lake Monroe, and back again to Green Cove, remaining on the steamer all the time. This trip takes about three days, and is one of the most beautiful excursions in Florida.
OCKLAWAHA RIVER TRIP: This celebrated excursion requires three or four days. Ocklawaha steamers start from Palatka. Steamers from Green Cove to Palatka daily. Distance, about forty-five miles.
TRIP TO MANDARIN: At Mandarin is the winter home

of Mrs. Harriet Beecher Stowe. It is distant from Green Cove- about twelve miles- a very pleasant trip.
TRIP UP BLACK CREEK: This excursion takes all day, and is very picturesque. A little steamer is chartered by a pleasure party at Green Cove for about twelve dollars, and the party can picnic in the woods at the older deserted village of Middleburgh. The scenery along this creek is equal to that of the Ocklawaha River, and alligators which have been frightened from the St. John's may here be seen.
TRIP TO FT. GEORGE ISLAND: This is a very pleasureable jaunt, and takes all day. The Island lies at the mouth of the St. John's River. Fishing thee is very find, and the drives on the Island most beautiful.
There are many other beautiful excursions near by for picnics.

From New York City and the Eastern States by CHARLESTON LINE OF STEAMERS, from Pier 27 N.R., sailing every Saturday and every alternate Wednesday to Charleston, thence by palatial steamer "St. Johns" direct, or rail to Savannah, Sea Island Route, or rail to Jacksonville, thence by steamer; or,
BY OCEAN S.S. CO. OF SAVANNAH, sailing every Wednesday and Saturday from Pier 35 North River, direct to Savannah; make close connection with palace steamers of the Sea Island Route to Fernandina, rail to Jacksonville, steamer to Green Cove Springs; or from Savannah by rail to Jacksonville, thence steamer; or,

BY MALLORY'S LINE of superb steamers, leaving New York every Friday direct for Fernandina, rail to Jacksonville, thence by steamer; or,
BY OLD DOMINION LINE, leaving Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, at 3 P.M., for Norfolk; rail to Jacksonville; Sea Island Route or rail to Jacksonville, and steamer to Green Cove Springs; or,
BY BOSTOM AND SAVANNAH S.S. LINE, leaving Boston every Thursday, making same connection at Savannah as per lines from New York.
By rail over the Pennsylvania R.R. and connecting lines to Savannah; thence by Sea Island Route or rail to Jacksonville, then steamer.
From Philadelphia by OCEAN S.S. OF SAVANNAH to Savannahl; or from Baltimore by MERCAHNTS' AND MINERS' TRANSPORTATION CO. to Savannah; thence by Sea Island Route or rail to Jacksonville, and steamer.
