To Make the Miles Go...
Play ‘“‘Alphabet Flowers’ -— Driver starts with ‘A’, names flower starting with that letter. Following players take letters in order, but name preceding flowers before their own (or choose animals, groceries, etc.)
Try ‘20 Questions.” ‘It’? chooses an animal, vegetable or mineral (basic classification) and announces which his secret is. Others in car get 20 questions to find solution. ‘It’? answers only “yes” or ‘no.’ Winner gets to be “It” next. (Samples: Betsy Ross, the telephone poles outside the car, the water tower in Zephyrhills.)
Or play “Roadsign Alphabet.’ Driver finds an “A” on a sign. Passengers find next letters in order, until
“Z’’, Then whoever finds ‘“Z’ on a sign first is the winner.
Or try “Car Color Roulette.” Play a game of half an hour. Approaching cars only are credited to passengers in assigned order. Blue car is 10 points, red 8 points, white 6 points, green 4 points, tan or brown 2 points and black 1 point. Count both colors on two-tone cars, add 10 points to color of trucks. Buses count straight 15 points.
Other “Mile Charmers’: Keep a list of how many of the 50 state license plates and foreign countries you see on your trip; recall old riddles, songs and sayings. (Knock-knock, Confucius Say, Little Willie, etc.), write the alphabet and list towns as you come to them, one for each letter. See if your trip fills the list, and begin with Zephyrhills at "Z."

More about ZEPHYRHILLS ...
Zephyrhills is located in the southeastern part of Pasco County, which borders on the Gulf of Mexico, and is about midway, north and south, in peninsular Florida. This part of the country is in the hill section, the hills being dotted with lakes; LeHeup Hill, six and one-half miles north of Zephyrhills, is known as one of the highest points in Florida (310 feet above sea level).
Zephyrhills, being located on the main lines of two railroads, the Atlantic Coast Line and the Seaboard Air Line, as well as being the hub of many good highways, is ideal for all kinds of industries and other enterprises. Special consideration will be extended by the City as to location and tax exemption.
Zephyrhills has a modern 25-room hotel with bath in each room, with reasonable rates. Many good apartments, cottages, cabins, rooms and modern motels are available at reasonable rates.
Hundreds of automobile tourists from almost every state in the Union may be found during the winter in Zephyrhills.
Zephyrhills has new modern school buildings with a faculty of 61. The courses of study meet the state requirements for accredited senior high schools. Children of winter visitors and tourists are welcome, and no tuition is charged. Textbooks are furnished free through all 12 grades. There are four private kindergartens.
The Tourist Club of Zephyrhills, Inc., owns its own club house, playground and equipment, and it has a yearly membership of 600 to 700. Zephyrhills has a privately-owned, air-conditioned recreation center with an 8-lane bowling alley. Visitors are welcome to use Zephyrhills’ 9-hole golf course for a low daily or monthly fee.
Zephyrhills has a good weekly newspaper, the Zephyrhills News; a new city auditorium and public library: 19 churches; several modern trailer parks; a new modern postoffice with city delivery; dial tele- phone service; modern drive-in bank; super markets; new ladies’ and men’s ready-to-wear stores; and a large airport with mile-long runways. More than a hundred homes have been built annually in recent years within the city and suburbs. :
